Sami Zeira designed this ring around one thing: the deep blue of the sapphire. Everything else, the thin band and the small diamonds around the stone, is there to frame that color. He chose the marquise cut because it's a classic, elegant shape that also makes the finger look longer. Wear it as an engagement ring, give it as a gift, or buy it for yourself.

The Design

The sapphire is held by prongs at its two points and along its sides. A row of small round diamonds follows the marquise outline, with a small cluster of diamonds at each end. The band is plain and polished, so the attention stays on the center stone.

Metal & Stones

Choose 14K or 18K gold in yellow or white. 18K has a higher gold content and a deeper color; 14K is harder and more resistant to scratches. White gold is rhodium plated. Both stones are lab-created: the sapphire has the same chemical composition and hardness as mined sapphire (corundum, 9 on the Mohs scale), and the diamonds are real diamonds grown in a lab.

Sizing

Available in US sizes 4 through 8.5, in half sizes. Sizes 8 and 8.5 are priced higher because they use more gold.

Care

Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, especially behind the halo where dirt collects. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners, which can loosen small prong-set stones. Remove the ring before manual work, the gym, or cleaning with chemicals. Have the prongs checked by a jeweler once a year.
