22k gold granulation, the artist’s original passion, is an ancient Greek technique of creating delicate patterns to adorn jewelry using petite 22k gold balls. It is a formidable technique that requires dexterously placing and then fusing the 22k gold balls onto solid 22k gold surfaces. The craftsman must neither melt the 22k gold balls by applying too much heat, nor apply too little heat, and thereby cause them to slough from the gold. Sami Zeira is a celebrated, expert granulator, creating intricate modern, masterpieces with this ancient technique. The Sivivon Diamond Earrings have a distinct hand-granulated pattern.
